The used gear we sell is a curated collection of solid, coveted, rare, handmade oddities or classics. We only take in fully functional and near mint condition items.

THE PROCESS


Please email [email protected] first before bringing or shipping anything in; in general, items must be in perfect working condition to be considered. We prefer consignment versus outright buys or trades for a number of reasons. The way the process works is the item(s) are dropped off (or shipped to us) to be evaluated; if dropping off, the owner will need to be present and we'll need to see and verify their government-issued photo ID; if shipping, include a note with your current residential address. We'll check everything out, assess the functional & physical condition and send a detailed emailed approximately 2-3 weeks after the item(s) are in our possession to go over the results of the evaluation and set the retail price. When setting the retail price, we take into account what they've sold for in recent history here at CV and in completed online marketplace sales, the physical condition and if the item(s) comes with any original manuals or packaging. We don't usually offer outright buys or outright trades except in rare and special circumstances on a case-by-case basis, such as a single item (part of a larger lot) that we have a buyer in mind for, or that we can reasonable expect will sell quickly.

We are licensed with the City of Portland as a Secondhand Dealer and follow all regulations related to our permit. Items must be in our possession for a minimum of 15 days before they can leave the shop. A potential buyer can reserve and place a hold on an item during those first 15 days but the transaction cannot be completed (buyer pays balance in full and takes possession of item) until day 16.

We warranty our used and vintage items against failure for 48 hours in case there's an issue that didn't come up during testing, therefore credit can go on the consignors account as early as 48 hours after the buyer take possession of their item.

Below is our current rates, the percentage is what customers get. We have some rate flexibility when setting the split for higher-fetching items with values over $2,500.

Consignment - we sell the item(s) for you, your store credit goes on account as early as 48 hours after the buyer takes possession, cash/check payouts need to be prepared (consignors are notified via email when credit/payout is ready or mailed)

Trade-In (n/a) - we give you store credit after an expedited evaluation but pretty much immediately or within 48 hours

Sell (n/a) - we buy the item(s) outright, give you cash or a company check, after a full evaluation, after 15 days
