Octopass is an eight-voice analog polyphonic filter module equipped with both polyphonic Audio and CV jacks. The Polyphonic jacks are patched with Polytip patch cables.
Internally, Octopass comprises eight analog filters, with each audio and CV connection of every filter linked to its own pins on the Polytip jacks. Each filter employs a 4-pole 24db low-pass filter built around the SSI2144 chip, a patented improved ladder topology designed by Dave Rossum in 1980. Additional circuitry on the board manages levels, voice separation, resonance compensation, and power, collectively forming one of the most iconic filters of the '80s synth era, but modular and in Eurorack format.
A few points worth noting: The FM Level CV jack can modulate the polyphonic CV from FM CV IN1, with the Attenuator knob determining the degree of modulation. Experiment by patching an LFO from ATX1 and listen to the results. This modulation input can also operate at audio rate, producing intriguing sounds. Additionally, you can utilize both FM CV INs simultaneously as they are internally mixed, allowing for various experimentation.
Voice matching is made by setting the trimmers on the back. The Octopass matching level is medium to maintain slight variations between the voices.
